I started my blog, Adventures in the Ballpark, in 2010, shortly after my parents moved into an assisted living facility one mile away. The blog helped me process my 12 years of caregiving, the significant and the mundane. Some posts were heartbreaking to write, and some helped me find humor in the difficult. Some posts were about the silly in life, or the bizarre and unexplainable. Some were about nothing, they just gave me an outlet.
After both my parents passed in 2020, I had fewer stories to tell, as my parents were a prominent force in my life. They were strong, proud veterans and steadfast, service-oriented people of faith who lived for nearly 100 years. Big hearts, big stories, big lives.
I was a bit unmoored for nearly a year once they were gone, and my writing seemed a bit aimless. I took a break. Eventually, life became busy again with friendships and work and service projects I had forgotten I loved. The blog medium lost some appeal for me, and I decided in Dec 2023 that it was time to close this chapter of my life.
Thanks to everyone who ever popped in to see what was happening in my Ballpark. Thank you for listening, for reading, and for sharing your own journey. Young or old, no matter how we travel, life is truly an adventure.
